How to broadcast real-time updates from your party

You can set up a booth at your party that lets your guests make Robo.to updates. It's kinda like having a 'photo booth' but instead of photos it makes short video status updates. Publish these updates in real-time on your event invite page.

Click here to see an example invite page

1) First, create a new invite page using Crusher. Enter all the relevant party info, and invite your guests. Include the 'Custom' module. Note: You don't have to use Crusher. You can do this with a website or blog, basically any service that lets you embed some code.

2) Go to Robo.to and copy your badge embed code which you can find under the "Share my face" link at the bottom of your Robo.to page. Paste this embed code into the custom module within the Crusher invite page.

3) Later on during your party, download the Maker app and set it up to run on a computer as a full-screen kiosk. Follow the simple setup instructions and have it point to your existing Robo.to account.

You're finished. See your updates publish on your invite page.

First off, great job on all the Robo.to and Crush3r features you've been adding. These are truly great products that adhere to the KISS philosophy.

We're hoping to use Robo.to as a video booth for our upcoming Christmas party and have the updates streaming on a television in our living room... but it doesn't seem like the TV feature updates itself when new videos are posted. Does this mean a manual refresh is necessary?

are you running it off of two laptops? we might be able to send you an un-released display app that instantly plays videos as they're recorded to a specific robo.to account. wanna test it out for the party?

Hell yes I would! Sounds like it's exactly what I was trying to accomplish. The party is on Dec. 12th, I'd be happy to give feedback afterwards on the app.

Hey guys, any word on the beta app? Our party is this Saturday night and I'd love to give it a go. Otherwise I guess I'll have to manually refresh my second computer every once in awhile for people to see updates... which will be fine, but I'd love to help you test something new ;)

hey yeah, what's your username for the party, or better yet, your uuid? you can find it at the bottom of the "Share my face" page.
i'll put together a custom app for ya - takes only a sec.

My UUID is 42d8e0266f912178a505677e66007df84ed90a8a. My original idea was to let people record under my username but hashtag everything so I could setup a TV channel, but whatever I need to do to automatically show the latest ones would be great.

If I can get it to work it's going to be epic. One room as the video booth, another room with a laptop hooked up to a big screen TV with the latest updates... I'm already laughing at the hilarity that will ensue.

Thx!

sweet it works. give this app a shot: http://www.particularplace.com/downloads/robo-display.air
just click on the video to make it fullscreen - it'll display robo.to updates as your guests record them, then play through all of them randomly when there's no activity.

we used this app for the robo.to beta launch party we threw, which went over really well.
had to restart it once in a while, which was a pain, so it still might be a little buggy in that realm, but we've never tried it as an air app, so it might work better this time around. here's hoping!
